Mellivora leggings are made from 100% recycled polyester!
Unlike regular polyester, recycled polyester uses PET (Polyethylene terephthalate) as the raw material.
So where does this material fiber come from?
Plastic bottles! That's right! The exact same ones you are (hopefully) throwing in the recycling bin!
Recycling not only keeps these bottles out of landfills, but also provides the opportunity to give this otherwise wasted material a new life as your favorite pair of Mellivora leggings!
Here’s a simple break-down of the recycling process:
First Stage - Plastic PET containers are taken from the recycling center to be sorted by type and color.
Second Stage - Labels and caps are removed before the bottles are chopped into tiny “flakes”.
Third Stage - These flakes are then melted into pellets.
Fourth Stage - The pellets are melted again and expressed to make fiber.
Fifth Stage - Once this fiber is processed, the resulting fabric can be used in a variety of textile products.
The rest is history - or rather - just the beginning!
Not only is recycled polyester a more sustainable choice, but it also performs!
The thickness combined with four-way stretch technology expands and contracts with your muscles, keeping you comfortable on any adventure - from the mountain to the yoga studio!
Mellivora’s use of recycled polyester is just another layer of what sets us apart from the rest!
